A BOOK CAN BE JUDGED BY ITS COVER.

As an avid reader, book cover design is something I’ve always wanted to get into. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m more likely to pick up a book that’s exciting to look at. A book cover can become known as an iconic image— something of pop culture— if it effectively and uniquely captures the contents inside. That being said, as I grow my portfolio, I will be including sample works in this section, along with the first covers I’m adding to my portfolio: The Astra Epsilon series from Portland-based Arch Star Publishing. Can’t wait to delve further into this! My hope is that my book-oriented illustration journey eventually leads me to the opportunity to illustrate a children’s book one day.

Design of Astra Epsilon by Brayden Dodge (2021)

This Neo-scifi novelist approached me to create a cover of their book that takes place in a virtual outerspace world full of various mythical creatures. I had the pleasure of sitting down with the author personally to draft up ideas that both nodded to the storyline as well as other cultural references that he wanted to incorporate.

Astra Epsilon: Book Two (Coming Early 2024)

Since I had such a wonderful experience with author and Arch Star Publishing, I have the privilege to announce that we are currently in the process of putting together the cover on the second Astra Epsilon novel. Enjoy a sneak peek down below!

Re-Design of The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

As a pass-time (and a good form of practice), I like to re-design the covers of books that have already been published. This requires me to read the novels front to back, pick out key elements from the story, and figure out a way to portray those details without giving away too much. What a fun challenge!
